This is your own private oasis in beautiful Matapouri, the jewel of the Tutukaka Coast. Only a minutes’ walk to the estuary and the infamous Matapouri jumping bridge – one of the must dos for kids while in the bay. Pohutukawa trees line the section, giving you places to relax in the shade, hang a hammock, lounge around – when you’re not at the beach or out on one of the kayaks on offer. There’s room to park the boat, and launching just down the road into the estuary, or over at Tutukaka.
The fully fenced yard keeps pets and the little ones safe so you can relax. In fact, it’s all about relaxing here – sunny decks to spread out on, hammocks, spa pool, unlimited WIFI…even a big flat-screen TV with SKY (sports and free channels). And when you want to explore the local beach and estuary, just grab one of the two kayaks!
Matapouri Hideaway has four bedrooms, a well equipped kitchen, dining room that opens onto one of the decks – the perfect place for your morning coffee. The large lounge opens onto the front deck that can be enclosed with plastic roll downs.
When you decide to explore beyond Matapouri, there are several stunning beaches close by. Within a short drive is Sandy Bay (renowned surf beach), Woolleys Bay (great for boogie boarding, walking, swimming), and Whale Bay (where bush meets the sand – an idyllic picnic spot). Tutukaka (Toots) is the place to launch your boat, wander the shops and cafes, or catch a dive expedition to the Poor Knights Islands. Further on from Tutukaka is Ngunguru, a seaside village on the estuary with a well-stocked superette, hairdresser, beauty therapist and takeaways, golf course, sports complex, cafes. And that’s not mentioning the harbour beaches out towards Whangaumu Bay. There is so much on offer!
